Week 34 - US Open men's qualifying

Brilliant !

Just looking at the men now - what a come back from our Jubbsville !

Also, pleased to see that 37 year-old Simon got the better of Mmoh (who's not my favourite)

3rd seed Laaksonen lost, as did 9th seed, Albot

Lots of wildcard success here too, with wins for 2004-born Ethan Quinn (who, like Glozman in the women, had his wildcard thanks to being runner-up in the U18 nationals)

Wildcard Bruno Kuzuhara also won - also born 2004, won the Aussie Junior Open (singles and doubles) this year. As did US wildcards Svadja, Nanda and Brandon Holt (Tracy Austin's son)

Likely to be a lucky loser spot open up when Djoko eventually withdraws or is withdrawn.

hadnt realised Holt was Austins son, nice to see!

Ryan P has lost the first set very easily

You're watching the wrong match CD - shouldn't you be out on Court 14 with Barry White ?

Oh, don't worry - I've got Court 14 streaming on my phone on my left - with, yes, the sound cranked up biggrin

Doesn't he sound amazing?? (Although if I were a player I think I'd find it annoying - the way he says LOVE-forty - as though it's a big shock, and what are you going to do about it, huh?)

Whose match was  that?  I want to watch it on  replay.   I wasn't able to  catch any yesterday.   Thanks.

That was Sonay's match in the women's - the umpire's definitely worth listening to smile

Liam wins 6-1 in the 3rd. Cassone only 20 though, might be one to watch.

This sounds like the umpire that Kvitova was trying to restrain herself from giggling over too much at Eastbourne this year, lol. The poor women was in fits for a few moments
on court, and that even set the commentators off on one !. Wonder if he realises how sexy he sounds, ha, ha

For anyone who hasn't guessed already, we are talking about Kader Nouni - the longest serving top-rank WTA umpire.

I hadn't - I don't watch enough live women's tennis - so thank you for enlightening me.

Unless work throws a spanner in the works, I'll be at qualifying tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some Brits to report on!
