What happened to Jack , what was the injury ?

He appeared to jar his leg when going for a wide ball. Probably a groin strain and not too serious.

Yes, that's what I thought too when watching it.

As you say, nothing to indicate it's particularly serious, although groin strains do take a while to clear up

Jack will be out for 2/3 weeks so not available for DC. Funnily enough when we saw him beat FAA I said to my son that he just needs to keep fit to make it big time as his game is pretty physical. Didnt realise it would come true that quick.

It's been reported as a hamstring strain. Apparently he had been feeling it a bit recently and he thinks that playing so much in the last seven weeks just pushed it too far.

It's so disappointing for him as he had been working so hard on his fitness to avoid these niggling strains and sprains. Unfortunately he does still seem to be prone to them.

Andy did much better than I expected tbh. In that 4th set he played a poor game to hand the match to Matteo. Who knows we could have been looking at a fifth set between them. Didn't notice Andy cramping either so a positive sign. If he can keep this going then he could really challenge at 250 level and have a decent ranking. The big question is what exactly does Andy want from his final period as a pro player. Is he happy to never win another slam but maybe get to the second week. Go on a run to the quarters. He's deffinately improved so really down to him and what exactly he wants.

A little bit more information on Jack's injury & Andy's cramping issues, or rather the lack of them yesterday, in Stu Fraser's report in today's Times + quotes from both players.

Yay

Cam remains live #8, though now just 20 points behind poor Djoko. Win the title and he could in theory be post US Open WR2.

The post US Open WR 1 could still be any of 4. Nadal, Medvedev, Alcaraz and Ruud (!)

Dan loses the first set on.a very fluctuating first set TB, 6-7(11)

He had 3 SPs and lost it on the 7th SP he faced ( including 2 at *5-6 15-40 )

Thinks this might be curtains for Dan now .

Should have taken his chance in the tie-break to really make Cilic pay for not taking those earlier set points . I suspect Cilic would have imploded if Dan had taken that first set .

Pity biut still got a very decent chance I reckon, as I was on the point of saying anyway before he got an early second set break of serve.

6-7(11) *2-0

Rublev beat Shapovalov in an over 4 hours match finally settled 10-7 in a 5th set MTB.
