Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open, Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard)

It's all very low tech, people on their hands and knees with towels drying the court because by the time they started to close the roof it was already raining.

Petchey as normal is talking rubbish . Either Norrie is feeling unwell or hes just playing rubbish , never seen him make so many unforced errors .

You know how it is, you can have all the athleticism and coordination in the world but some days it just doesn't work for you.

For all that there's absolutely no doubt that Rublev played the better tennis today.

I agree Rublev played better but Cam really wasn't himself today. He made far too many UEs which is quite untypical. He even smashed his racket which i think is totally out of character. I think he was maybe still not quite 100% fit. Either that or just a bad day at the office.

I make it that its the first time since 2000 that the neither of the top two seeds have made it to the quarter final of the US Open.

Indeed. Unfortunately didn't watch as watching the British doubles but he's a cracking guy with a fun game.

Well done Frances. Had a lot go against him start of the fourth too. Firstly the predictable MTO Nadal took then the referee forcing him to serve as the roof closed how is that fair?!

Buzzing for him. One of the good guys.

Yes. Great win for him and against the ultimate bad guy!

Im a big Tiafoe fan, but I think thats a little harsh calling Nadal the ultimate bad guy.

Yes very pleased for Frances. He does seem a great guy.

But I am certainly not in the Nadal ultimate bad guy camp. You just speak for a section of tennis followers, Bagel.
