Evans takes over in the second set runs away with it 6-1 but have to be honest I'm watching Alcaraz against Baez. It's a much better match than this one. Patriotism only stretches so far.

This! (Now know its the thing to say thanks to CD wink) the level of tennis is unreal - hopefully Baez not injured

What a shame for Baez. It was a terrific match until the stoppage, sublime stuff.

Wow what a winner from Nava to take the set with an amazing cross court winner.

5-7 0-0*

Andy had so many break points in the early games and didnt take them. He needs to be more aggressive here. Still think Andy will come good but he doesnt half like to make if difficult.

Andy involved in the longest set of the US Open 2022 so far against 20 yo world no 203 Emilio Nava. Is this what Andy needs in the blistering New York heat with his hip issues and his cramping issues and at his age? Even if Andy can overturn the deficit you have to wonder about his recovery powers to go any further in this tournament.

Very poor set from Murray who is being very defensive and waiting for Nava to make mistakes .

And nearly an hour and half for one set . Murray should not be losing to a player ranked 200 ! If Murray loses this match perhaps its time to retire as theres really nowhere left to go now .

That depends what happens in set 2 and 3. If Andy works out a way I think the sets will be quicker. Nava will find it harder than Andy to keep this level for anymore than 2 or 3 sets I suspect.

5-7 4-2* Murray, suspect the games will be quicker from here on in.

5-7 *4-3

Murray was in control at 30-30 a big point and another double figure rally. Had he got that then the set was over. Hopefully a couple of quick service games to take the set.
