Excellent stuff from Neal and Wesley. Looked in great shape in that match.

Beginning to wonder if the final might just be a shootout between Neal and Joe for the Nş1 spot in the world. Hope I'm not counting my chickens. Both have SFs to play first.

Well Mektic and Pavic are winning easily and looking good. Arevalo and Rojer also look good. And we shouldnt discount Lloyd and Harri or Cabal and Farah. 6 good pairs left !

If Lloyd and Harri win tonight they will rise to circa 15th and 12th respectively. Most improved doubles players of the year. Lloyd was the most solid on court against K and K, I felt. Fingers crossed for tonight

Arevalo and Rojer destroyed Mektic and Pavic, made it look easy,  really good to watch. I wouldn't bet on them not getting to the final.

Lloyd and Harri went down 6 and 2.

There was lots of drama from the off. For unknown reasons, Cabal & Farah started shouting across the umpire at Lloyd at a changeover halfway through the first, calling him 'dishonest'. Unclear why. This clearly rattled Lloyd, and the crowd was getting to him (it was small but 99% with the Colombians), and at one point he bellowed at someone in the crowd and got an abuse warning. He must have asked for the supervisor to deal with crowd noise during points, and security had a word with one fan, but the Colombians were running away with it by that point.

A bit of a shame to lose in such a way, and I felt for poor Harri who was doing his best to keep calm.

I don't know what there is to be dishonest about with automated calling though.... Unusually, Harri doesn't mention any of the drama in his blog so we may never know.

edit - Lloyd is live 22 in fact so not quite into top 20 yet.

Lloyd and Harri are playing Metz next after the US Open. Jamie is also playing, partnering Francisco Cabral - a new name to me . A one off or a new partner? Hes Portuguese and won 2 tour events this year. Ranked in the top 50.

Pity for Lloyd & Harri. Lloyd will have to live for now with that return against Kyrgios in the previous round that brought up MP.
