Gunneswaranwill be very tough.  Former top 100 player with CH of WR 75.

Giles moves to 61 points on Monday week. A SF win would take him to 69 points and top 500!

He has 10 points coming off the following week, on 24/10, if he feels like going on to win the title to cover these off as well and stay top 500.

Presumably Giles is playing the other M25 domestic events though, so chance to cover points in the subsequent weeks (as there always is, but home events tend to offer more in the way of opportunity to do well for variety of reasons)

Exciting times - JPJ and Giles hovering, ready to move up to 19 in top 500 with Kyle, Jomo and Arthur waiting in the wings.
Although there a couple with points to defend shortly.

From what Billy told me yesterday though, JPJ has gone back to college in the USA and so is unlikely to play many events.  Maybe he can find a couple of futures near his own college.

Or a challenger? The entries thread for next week is showing JPJ on the Fairfield Challenger 80 qualifying list.

Arthur & Mili perhaps saving themselves for the singles?  That said, Giles had a good day.

In that case, Paulisi was right.  Exciting times.

Yes I will also be making efforts to get to Glasgow to watch as well. I need to know who to support and who to boo after all

Bob said Billy had considered Glasgow shame he didnt go but understandable if hes safely in challenger main draws. That could have been a funny moment if he sealed the 10 in the 250 in my presence.

Billy's thinking was that a 1st round win in a Challenger is worth 7 points.  It's only 8 for reaching the SF in a 25k and it looks like a strong field.  Also, by playing the challenger, he gets hospitality.

Makes complete sense to me. Does hospitality mean accommodation? Never really sure how it works at Challenger level. Its been a tough step up to Challenger level for Billy. But hopefully a run is coming. Might need to drop to 25Ks at some point to try and go deep but while you can get in I always think you should try and play the level you can enter. Hopefully he can somehow sneak up into the top 250 and make Aussie qualifying.

Yes, re the hotel.  Although the players are not too impressed with the standard.  There is also transport to and from the hotel.  The tournament must have good sponsors because if there were more than 50 paying spectators yesterday at 10 euros per person, I would be amazed.

Unlike this, in France this week - absolutely packed to the rafters

The French challengers do seem to get amazing crowd support, they always have great atmospheres as well. Good to see. Do the French ITF events draw crowds as well?

As an event, Paris Bercy is always exciting in terms of atmosphere - it struggles to be seen as much more than the final qualifier for the tour finals for many folks but nonetheless it gets great crowds and has some exciting matches - the other "fall" indoor events in Antwerp, Stockholm, Vienna and Basle also draw decent crowds.
