Week 41 - ATP 250 - Gijón Open - Gijón, Spain (indoor hard)

I know very little about Cachin, even though he is top 100, but am going to assume he is largely a clay courter? Andy , should, be able to deal with him, I would reckon

Not been a happy pairing so far, this one. Not sure if it will endure, both playing with different partners next week.

Meanwhile, Andy got caned opening set 6-2, up 6-5 but on serve second set. Maybe I underestimated Cachin and also over estimated Andy?

Andy somehow seems to have pulled the second set out 7-5 and is now 2 all final set. Typical Andy , this feels like, although not watching. Belligerence and obtusiveness will get him this one , if he wins it.

boy, that was tight. I see ADF , who Andy beat in Rd 1, has withdrawn from his event next week so maybe he wasnt fit the other day? Sorry to put a dampener on Andy's form but...

I managed to watch that from midway through the second set.

He is not the player he was by any means, but my god his mentality is unbelievable. That was the only reason he won that.

If he recovers amply I would really fancy him v Korda.

Ive said it quite a lot on here but I believe next year will be the last for Andy, I think he is prepared to put it all out there and more now and as others have said hes certainly not a top 10 player by any means but it would be nice to see him win one more trophy. His aim will be a seeding for the Aus Open, hopefully he stays fit for 2023 which will be his last.

That lob he played in the second set was unbelievable.

Andy is on last today around 5 pm our time. Not sure why they arent having proper evening sessions in Gijon, or Florence, this week, seems a strange call from a crowd perspective / crowds at both venues have been week.
