Simon (#188) is the worst defeat of Murrays career by ranking at M1000 level.

Apparently Andy had bad cramping from mid second set

It was very sad to see Andy play like that. Simon (well done him) was obviously fired up and kept getting the ball back but he did not appear to be hitting that many winners. Andy was simply missing so many shots he would never normally miss.

When serving at 5-3 for that match, Simon did not really win the break back, Andy just lost the game. It was poor play from him, very tired and downbeat. He did not shake the referees hand at the end which was sad too.

Not shaking hands with the umpire is not like Andy - had there been some issues in the match?

His serve seems to have lost some speed over the last 6 months. He was getting some free points on it but from what I saw tonight thats stopped happening

He was fed up with the crowd and threatened to walk off at one stage. Andy was poor in set 2 and 3

Didn't see it - but a Paris crowd? For the Masters? For Gilles Simon's farewell event? Gilles being a real huge long-time favourite of the French fans - a trier, a decent guy, a gutsy little fighter - what in crying out loud did Andy expect ?????

They were a bit loud and off putting for sure.  But you know Andy, when things went away from him it became a problem but it was only in the very closing stages did he speak to the umpire.

The umpire could have done more for sure but, as you say Coup, what did Andy expect and it was nothing a player of his experience should not have a problem dealing with.  Unless you let it get to you of course!

I wonder if Andys reaction was more vested in general frustration that he isnt playing well and hasnt pushed on in a poor end to the year.

I wonder if he will be thinking hard over the next two months on how he plays 2023.

Only saw the third set, but Dan played very well.

Jack is on court now and is in control.

Jack won in straight sets against the French no.1
Very straight forward.
