RE: Week 44 - ATP Challenger 80 - NSW Open - Sydney, NSW, Australia (hard)

L16: (Q) Mark Whitehouse WR 677 defeated Mukund Sasikumar (IND) WR 361 by 3-6 6-2 6-0  biggrin

10 main draw ranking points in the bag + four from qualies.

*****

QF:  Marc Polmans (AUS) WR 478 (CH = 116 in October 2020) vs (Q) Mark Whitehouse WR 677

I can't help feeling that that match will be the end of the road for this week.  I'd love to be proved wrong, though:  30 points on offer...

30 MD points if he wins that QF and reaches the SF.

It's 4 points for qualifying then 7, 16, 30, 50, 80 MD points.

Mark's 20 points so far will take him up to 55 points and a QF win would take him up to 69 points, probably not quite enough for top 500 ( though would certainly take out his CH 530 from 2019 ).

That's actually what I meant.  I obviously expressed myself too cryptically!

Mark is also down for the 25k weeks after next. I see there are 15ks in New Zealand after that wonder if he will remain down there. If so then hes probably going to be around 500 by year end youd think regardless of what happens here. The 15ks will be weak fields.

A bridge too far Polmans was clearly a step too far ahead for Mark, could see fairly early on it was heading that way. Still with 2 x weakish 25ks where he will likely be seeded he might end up in year end top 500 yet.
