Do they even need to be literally there to sign in these days though? They cant just phone?

I know they just finished their tournament but Patten/Cash must have done that to get into Knoxville as they werent on the advance list.

Or there might be an app? but Im sure it isnt in person

I don't know about Challengers, but many of the ITF events in Europe seem to specify sign-in by telephone, while the US ones generally say "remotely".

Update: They would have got into the French challenger. And the Greek sign in is not until Monday.

Does seem a bit strange to not risk it. However I guess the cost of last minute travel changes while earning small amounts does make it a risk. I guess also a few more tournaments together at a lower level to fine tune their teamwork might also be part of the thinking.

Finances must play a part, it's getting expensive to fly and I would imagine they prebooked accommodation. Doesn't Marcus have a family too

In which case I would have thought a chance to play a challenger which has free accommodation and was in the country they were already in I would have thought would be a good idea.
