The next gen is officially here - looking forward to seeing some very exciting players over the next few years , Jack D amongst them. Tennis always has a habit of doing a Dr Who on us.

Going to be a very interesting event. Pity it's lost Rune but understandable. And yes looking more healthy in general for the coming years.
Jack's match should be not to far away now. Previous match in a 5th set. I was not aware of this format, each set to '4' only. Really weird .........
Next gen is the innovation Lab of the atp. Some work, some dont. I like the scoring system, not every week but it creates more key moments in a match
I do like that they are using this event to try out possible innovations. While I may be very unsure about some, none seem particularly 'out there' or distracting in this one tournament and I feel that they overall add to an already interesting event.
Matches at this level typically average just over 4 mins per game, a bit more on clay and hard than grass. This match is bang on. The 5 set match earlier was 2 hours 11. The other matches around 1 hour for 3 sets. So these are relatively short, sharp matches in this event.
Holding the TBs at 3-3 is interesting. For now these sets are too short for me as I want a set to develop more of a storyline but I wouldn't be too adverse to a slight change in the normal format to have TBs at 5-5 rather than 6-6.

For a while the old WCT circuit had a large number of events with 5 all tiebreaks .
in fact , the first ever Tour Finals (Masters) in Tokyo in 1970 used 5 all tie breaks!
