Week 45 - Next Gen ATP Finals - Milan, Italy (indoor hard)

The scoring in the third confused
Me - the TNNS app suggests it was 2-1 and a tiebreak at 1 game all? Or has it misplayed the score?

Looks like it was wrong and it was another 4-3 set.

I very seldom think one point is really important in a match

But when Jack was 5-4 up in the first set tie-break and then played a real brain f******t attempted drop shot, on a forehand that he had an open court to smash it into, well, it really could have been a different match....

Dom was up in the first set, should have won it and suddenly looked rather crestfallen as he went down 4-5. Then got a gift and just went onto turbo-charge

He made Jack look a real beginner for a lot of the rest of the match

Holding the TBs at 3-3 is interesting. For now these sets are too short for me as I want a set to develop more of a storyline but I wouldn't be too adverse to a slight change in the normal format to have TBs at 5-5 rather than 6-6.

I've watched, played and umpired matches in short formats

I agree that the 4 game sets, with tie-break at 3-3, seems too short

However, I like the 4 games sets, with tie-break at 4-4

It's shorter than the 6 games versions (the whole point) but somehow long enough to get going AND it mirrors the 6 game one better - i.e. 6 game set with tie-break at 6-6 equates to 4 and tie-break at 4-4 - it seems right, somehow

Stricker beat musetti in a five setter where each went to a tie break. Hes guaranteed being throifg to the semis and Musetti plays Jack in a straight match off for a semi place.

 I watche this one smile

A pretty poor show from Musetti - he might have been a bit inured after the 'long' match with Stricker yesterday - or he might just have been sulking a bit that he wasn't doing what the crowd wanted and being boy wonder - but he definitely was pretty feeble at the start - and got going a bit towards the end - but too little too late and just playing around for some of it...

Well done, Jack
