Emma raises the profile of the game where ever she goes, be it standing courtside or switching on the lights at Harrods. She'll certainly have a minimum number of sponsorship commitments and it makes sense to cover those while she is not completely fit. If the BJK Cup had been in London there would be a stronger argument plus absolutely no one expected us to win that tie anyway. None of us knows the conversations that go on behind the scenes for any of these events.
Please don't embolden parts of my post CD, you change the meaning of what I wrote by doing that. If I'd wanted to embolden those words I would have done so. Please delete that post you just made, or edit it and remove the emphasis you applied to my text.
Duly done. See above.
To be clear, the emboldening in a long post is to show which particular part the reply refers to
It is not done for emphasis (and is certainly not your emphasis) but to highlight the relevance of the reply. Hence, one part of what Emma was actually doing as opposed to your valid comment as to what she might have been doing (or maybe was also doing).
I can completely see that most people have different opinions here, and there is no reason why we have to agree.
And, obviously, there may be relevant things behind the scene (although I dont think the argument 'but there may be aspects we don't know' should be a default justification position, for politics, for tennis, for anything)
I'm afraid though that, for me, nobody has come up with a good argument as to why it was right for her to stay in London.
And - again to be clear - I'm one of the people who has vigorously defended her sponsorship deals etc - it's A1 perfectly normal that she's enjoying that side of her life and she's been clear that she keeps it in moderation and so all great.
But to not go to support, not even for a single day, looks bad, IMO, and - more importantly - actually is bad, again just my opinion.
(PS Re the Andy comment, yes, it's the same in theory but a whole load of the points aren't relevant - Unlike Emma, Andy does not need to 'learn' about team tennis, Andy doesn't have a problem with being viewed as too obsessed with brand events, Andy being in Innsbruck would make far less difference to the event's profile...)
By the way, again, this was purely for tennis off-day - as per 10 am Sat morning, I'm switching purely to GB v Australia !

Thanks for addressing this CD, my concern was that for the casual reader it wasn't obvious who placed the emphasis on that particular sentence in my post. To be clear my original post was not aimed at any one person, that's why I didn't quote anyone else's post. I participate on this site primarily with a view to try provide balance to the discussion, I'm happy to hear different viewpoints. It's difficult enough to avoid ambiguity in one's writing, and then seeing that prose modified in terms of emphasis all in a flash is a bit dispiriting. I'm really not comfortable with that aspect of the dialogue on this site, and I've said so in the past also.
The seats were largely sold out. An issue with them being available so far in advance people possibly from other nations bought them and then their team is knocked out. No re-sale facility from what I could see.
Heather keeps half threatening to turn this around - break points in the first, couple of points for 3-0* in the second, 30-0* in that last game. But just can't quite get it going.

Yes, you get the feeling she's very, very close, just not quite there at the moment....
the end of this set is going to be interesting though....

When Heather got the break after Storm had a medical break between sets it certainly looked to be going her way but goddam this Australian is a tough nut to crack!
Was only ever going to be one winner in a tiebreak. Storm was the better player - a really nice display of consistent controlled aggression. Heather was too passive today, perhaps feeling a pressure she didn't have against Spain as the clear underdog.
