Andy 5-2*

Andy 10/11, Kokkinakis 10/11 for the match.

I know who looks the better bet to me.

What is the logic behind playing a match at this hour of the morning. How is this justified? Can the players themselves not turn round and say they are not doing it. There really is no need for this. Personally I think they should go no later than 11-30pm. If it is that much of an issue then start earlier each day at maybe 10am. I want Murray to win this match but neither player or their teams and spectators should have to accept this.

Agree, it's ridiculous. I'm so pleased that Wimbledon have the 11pm finish.

On the other hand, as much as I am for best of 5 sets men's singles in Slams, I am also for uninterrupted 5 sets. Once you have started finish if possible.

I agree that an earlier start would mitigate a bit with say a planned 6pm local start to the night session here. Beyond that very long matches will happen and if you are going to have night sessions such matches just have to be accepted and at times embraced.

Well, if it's terribly hot in the middle of the day, there is some sense to loading the back-end of the day

But, I agree, this is daft

I can see that no one might predict that the match would be 4hr 37 mins and STILL only in the fourth set

But - as people said above - you could just have a cut-off time - and it could still be late, at 2 am, say, if you want to help TV rights around the world (and avoid the heat)

ADD: and now a fifth - but it would be interesting to know what the players think - there is something just brutal and wonderful about where we are now - I'm not sure either of the players would want to stop now

Andy is complaining about the time and loo breaks to the umpire. Hoping for a lights out 5th set - come on Andy !!!!!!

Does anyone have a link for the match please? I have Discovery Plus through Amazon Prime but I turned it off earlier to work and now I can only see replays and upcoming events? Thank you!

Sorry dont have a link. You should be able to see it on the Amazon Prime page and continue watching it ?? Or scroll through Discovery Plus Sport (not Sport + Entertainment) and live events are always at the top .

This is just stupendous and they are still playing decent tennis as well.

Andy just has to be applauded, whatever happens

Think this is now the 2nd longest match in Aus Open history behind the Rafa Novak final.
