Fran Simpson plays at my local club. She played British Tour Finals last year and took a set off Freya Christie. Will be good experience for her! She is a lovely girl too.
She's been given them so be silly not to take them.
Some of her balls off short returns have been a bit dodgy (serve is doing real damage so she's getting plenty), but hitting the ball well and good attitude.

And to be fair, having a look at her two January outings, they were a 6-4 6-1 loss to Alice Gillan in Loughborough and a 6-3 6-2 loss to a top 500 ranked Slovakian in Sunderland.
These look not too shabby at all prior to then being given a qualifying WC to this W25.
Svendsen had quite a fun meltdown on the neighbouring court. Hard to tell if the Umpire is having a mare or not, stream isn't the clearest. But she's through as well, a talented 18 year old Dane.

I enjoyed that. Seems every time I tune in to ITF streams I witness a meltdown (happened 3 days in a row at ITF in Rome, Georgia where Krueger, Lahey and Di Lorenzo all had meltdowns versus Gabri Knutson)
In fairness to Svendsen there are always some dodgy calls at this level.
Out of curiosity, I looked up the decimal odds on tennis explorer and she was 4.90 going into that match (as a side note, John-Baptiste is 7.33 v Ferro)

Can you explain what this means pleased? Does higher number mean a player is more or less likely to win? Thank you

I noticed yesterday from live scores that first game of the match was 24 points on Frans serve. She had 4 game points all at ad, Talia must have had 7 bp, including early on at 15-40 and 30-40 obviously then got one on 24th point of the game. Hard for the underdog after a game like that!
Talia's opponent has scored a total of 10 games in the last three British ITf's. Doesn't seem as if this really justifies her being the recipient of three consecutive qwc's!
A lot of people have been defending Fran and of course she should take the cards if offered, and of course the scores don't always reflect the match etc etc
But I think you've got a point telstar, simply in that there are a lot of players of roughly Fran's level, and you can ask whether the wildcards could be more evenly distributed.
After all Fran has a very mediocre juniors ranking too (and not for the wont of playing - she's played a whole lot of events)
And she didn't do very well in the GB Nationals (got knocked out in qualis in the U18 by Mia)
Which is not to criticise Fran at all but it's not suprising telstar raises the question
