Not a great match - again, Jay hitting the ball too lofted, too far back, not getting any real penetration on the ball
Also, Sinclair served 13 aces and 4 DFs, I think. Jay hit 0 aces and 5 DFs. It's not great....
Mind you, anyone who plays for NMI gets a tick from me
QR1: (q3) Jay Clarke WR 313 LOST to (ALT) Colin Sinclair (NMI) WR 461 6-4 7-5
He's one of the long list of standout juniors who hasn't really made the impression (yet) on adults that was expected (by some)
He was number 1 in the world, won the Aussi Junior Grand Slam, etc etc
But it was very much someone who played tons of events, was fully funded and pushed by the fédé...
He never was someone I really touted (not like Arthur Fils, say, whose game just shone through, even if not the actual results (which weren't bad either ))
However, Mayot's only 21, and he's no duffer
But the odds are 2.50 v 1.50 (for Ryan) which seems fair (and so offers nothing interesting, although Ryan often starts a little slow)
That is a shame - Ryan still hasnt really got it going so far - this indian swing was a great opportunity for him to pick up points in a relatively weak series of events, and it hasnt happened.
I didn't see any in the end - had 10p on Mayot to win the first set and then, after the first, 10p on Ryan to get the second. Well, you win some, you lose some (literally)
But, assuming no physical issues, not like Ryan to roll over in the second....
