Weeks 12 & 13 - ATP Masters 1000 - Itau Open - Miami, FL, USA - doubles

That is a good win for Jamie and Michael, 4 out of 4 doubles wins in the opening round. Decent. My mood is pepping up, light at the end of the tunnel!

A much better tournament for doubles than singles!

Just three seeded pairs survived the opening round, all of them those are pairs with a British player in it.

Jo and Rajeev lost first set 3 - 6 and are down 3 - 4* in the second. I noticed they had no interaction with each at all during the sit down at the change over after the last break.

L16:  Tommy Paul & Ben Shelton (USA/USA) CR 359 (146+213) defeated (2) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 7 (3+4) by 3 & 4  bleh

Are we coming to the parting of these particular two ways, I wonder...

Certainly looks that way, but hope not.

They didn't look happy, hardly said a word to each other  watched after middle of 1st set  when they had just lost their service game on a deciding point.

Men's doubles is bonkers this year. Of the top 27 pairs in the race, only 5 have made the R16 here.

Lloyd and Harri are winning very, very easily. they are 6-2, 5-1 up against Bublik and Kecmanovic.  They look in complete control

They were, but looked like a fairly blatant tank to me from Bublik in particular. He was serving from the tramlines and just swatting things away. Harri looked annoyed with him at the handshake.

One big improvement from last year is Lloyd's return, which seems so much more consistent.

i said around the Aus open that I thought they should split, and that I think Pavic/ Mektic Cabal/Farah have run their course too. I would now add Arevalo/Rojer to the list. I just think it can become stale after a few years. Unless you are still rising the rankings .... like Lloyd/Harri, but when you aren't having much success and you've been around the same person for 2/3 years i think it's good to look for a change and see if that spurs you on.
