Jules got it back to a tiebreak

But our George took the tiebreak 7-5, and deservedly so

Again, I never completely trust George not to now have a slight absent moment

But it's already miles more encouraging than their last two matches....

Bit of a struggle to serve it out (he spurned four or five match points & had to stave off several break points), but Georgie Porgie the eventual !

Should take George up to a further new CH around the 460s and provisionally GB #16.

He also has no points to defend before the end of August and only 2 points before mid October.

As said before, George is sorely under-ranked, not just on level of tennis but simply off his results sheet - it's barely half full.

I predicted he'd be 400 by the start of summer. That's a slamdunk now. And where he'll be after summer is anyone's guess.

The only slight caveat is that previously grass wasn't really his thing. He stands a bit too far back, has quite a big wind-up. But his serve will do damage on grass and it'll be interesting to see if his footwork is now better on the durface.
