Come on Jay. 2 more wins needed.

He's managed the first:

L16:  (3) Jay Clarke WR 518 defeated Leonardo Catani (ITA) WR 1188 by 7-6(5) 6-1

And is in with a shout for the second:

QF:  Alexander Blockx (BEL) WR 953 (CH = 933 last month) vs (3) Jay Clarke WR 518

The Belgian, who's only 18, saw off Leo Borg (WC/8) by 5 & 2 earlier...

And he gets it:

QF:  (3) Jay Clarke WR 518 defeated Alexander Blockx (BEL) WR 953 by 3 & 2

Rather easier than I expected, though he was broken in the sixth game of the second set!  smile

SF:  (3) Jay Clarke WR 518 vs (2) Oliver Crawford (USA) WR 295 (CH = 284 in March)

A bit of a step up...

Assuming they all stay in there and 19 is set fair for a little while (anyone possibly due to drop out soon?), then who is most likely to be the next player in? Looking at the 500-600, I am finding it hard to put my money on one of them to make it just yet? I can see that all COULD do it, but who is MOST LIKELY to do it??

Im looking at it as a step towards the 250 again for Jay

Stuart Parker and Paul Jubb will be in trouble in coming weeks I think.

Stuart and Paul will both have over 80 points until September come what may

Actually only.2 of the 19 are at risk of dropping as low as 75 points ( the approximate 500 cut-off ) or less before 7th August.

Jay for one if he loses hia SF here. He has 11 points coming off on 12/06. But hopefully quite a lot more points to come this week or in the near future.

Otherwise just Giles who would drop from 77 points to 73 points on 26/06. But then next drop to 72 points on 14/08 so he doesn't need very much at all to be top 500 in August.

Basically untul the end of July it's a very solid looking 19 and I would bet that all 19 will be top 500 on 31st July, ie. Jay and Giles will do enough.

If so, that's a decent window to add a 20th ( or more! )

Since I've been sitting here mapping it out, I'll outline in more detail their various guaranteed dates in the Top 500 thread once Jay has finished for the week ( and I find the time - as off to Aviemore for a week tomorrow morning ).

As to who might add?  How about our US college guys? Toby, Johannus, Jack PJ?

Kyle has 11 points to drop off on 31st July. That would see him back on 74. Then quite a lot more to come off in August. Just needs one decent win, but at the moment, I don't see where it is coming from.

Perhaps he will pick up a couple more 10s from using his PR at key events.

84 on 31st July cos, speaking of PR entries, he has still to.add in his 10 points for turning up in Rome, taking him to 95

Though then yes, 20 points come off on 7th August

Judging by the scoreline Jay was clearly the quicker out of the Blockx wink

 Absolutely biggrin

I've mentioned it before but (assuming he's fit and not injured) I think someone like Jack PJ will be very likely. All of the college boys will be coming back for summer. There will be wildcards here and there - especially for someone like Jack who is an LTA favourite (not so sure about JoMo - do hope so but I don't think he was one of the chosen few by the bods). All you need is one good match, one favourable draw, and you're in !  (And the ones lower down will be equally interesting - there's a good chance one of them will 'do a JoMo' and come out of nowhere). I wouldn't rule out Anton though either - he's the UK college boy.

The challenger events on grass are the ones to watch them as it is these events where players like these can get through qualies or get some wild cards.

Tony Samuel did well last season on grasss didnt he? so may struggle to build points - but Arthur and Jack , and Johannus?
