No-one knows what is debated by the wildcard committee, but it looks like a seismic shift away from awarding 2 places to the winners of those events, and I suspect if it has happened, that in future years, the winners of those events may not get one. It is something that has begged me for years, as I feel we should do everything to help the best British players progress, the same as every other Grand Slam host does.

 Lily is a prime example of  the sort of player who shouldn't be getting a main draw wildcard. She's been bang average all year, will be 28 years old later this year and is very unlikely to be the future of GB women's tennis.

If we have to award main draw wild cards to players who have been at best average this season then I'd prefer players like Sonay get one who is at least promising and only 22 later this year and therefore more of the future of GB tennis.

Final women's doubles wildcards given to Jones/Stephens, and Collins/Riske.

Final one unsused and that lets in Martincova/Vekic.

No surprise and those are all pairings with 'name' players. So less of a complaint than usual, but I'll always be sad for Emily.

 Wickmayer came through qualifying  so age no barrier.
