6 wins out of 10 matches and all, obviously, against the seedings is a decent start, Id say. All 6 again tomorrow plus Andy and Ryan are both on centre court as round 1 starts up.
Kudos to Jay Clarke - the best win, I would say, out of a group of very good wins for our men yesterday.
He really came out on court with a plan to play positive, grasscourt tennis, he stuck to it, and got a great win.
Harry W gets second prize in my list - his constant etching and kvetching is irritating (I don't mind the f*** this and f*** that, although he might want to wind it in a bit, but the moaning is a downer). However, he played some really gutsy tennis, with great scrambling, at clutch moments, and got a super win.
Billy managed to keep his cool when the umpire made a tricky let call on the first matchpoint (actually, I think the umpire was right but I can see how Billy was majorly aggrieved, he HAD won the point, there was no question). But all credit to him - he was on the cusp of losing it big time and reined it in.
JoMo gets the prize for strongest serve. The noise off his serve is just phenomenal. And as a tennis bod said, it's rather Del Potro like, a rather angular tennis, lots of elbows and knees, and bludgeoning, but I really hope he gets a few more wildcards on grass - he's got the ability to do big damage.
Arthur did well - he's a terrier, that lad, and Rincon is in your face. Happy for Mark and Dan too. Both of them are handy on grass - Dan's game isn't really made for it but you can see that, when you get to 32, and you're from the UK, then force of time means you've learned to play on grass, whether you like it or not, really.
NB Surbiton is obviously the best time to get upset wins
The other guys are straight off clay (or hard, at best), have hardly practiced on grass, some are really looking uncomfortable. In a few weeks, for the other events, they'll be a lot more adept but now is the time for poaching

Thanks CD, my thoughts as well re Surbiton being the time to take advantage. Also, the early rounds, the grass is greener and less worn, bounce lower and slicker generally, take advantage now!!
