Seems there is less interest in the Male WCs but Liam, Jan and Ryan are in a qualifying position so an upgrade to MD would be reasonable and George Loffhagens current form may earn him one but other than that there is no one really close to the qualifying cut off to justify one yet.

Very unrelated; but can you still turn up at queens club for qualifying to watch, is it the first 500 people or so?
Unfortunately it seems to be the same as last year, no public access to qualifying. havent been able to go to qualifying there now since 2019. I assume maybe its queens club members only.
That's disappointing. Last year they said it was because preparations were delayed due to equipment etc being used for the Queen's platinum jubilee events. At least that's what I heard.
We know winners of the challenger grass events like Ilkley will get wild cards
If they arent already ranked high enough to get in; what happens if a complete outsider wins an event like Stuttgart or Mallorca? Will they get a wild card?

Sometimes we worry about the state of your marbles, master Jon
You mean like Van Rijthoven, which was only last year?

oh heck - yes. I do sometimes as well - and yes, of course, you are right, I recall writing extensively about him last season.

Oh dear, CD, it isnt good is it?
I was only teasing
But it did make me smile, especially as you were his most vocal fan on this forum
But, hey, memory is overrated, I reckon - enjoy the moment !
It's my goldfish/bowl/castle philospophy - I can save a fortune on novels as I can re-read ones from last year and have completely forgotten what happens....

Haha. I realise you were teasing. But it does bother me sometimes; my wife says she reckons I just remember things I regard as important and place emphasis on, other things become sort of transient passing thoughts which go as fast as they came. Somehow, I manage to hold down a decent enough job, so I just about get by!!
Ha, to be fair I don't think there is any guarantee that any winner of an overseas ATP gets in? Van Rijthoven did beat Fritz, Auger-Aiassime and Medvedev on his way to thy s'Hertogenbosch title which maybe pushed his case further?

Yes, the huge gap of GB players in the 200-350 rankings is a big problem
Looking at the others, and dependent on how they play in the grass lead-up events, I think Arthur Féry might have a decent chance of a MD wildcard - he would be my most likely 'other'. George Loffhagen is also possible. Both are young, and quite highly thought of. And both playing well.
But it's going to be a hot contest for those quali wildcard spots
We've got a lot of contenders for those, not only guys who are very close in ranking but people like Anton who are good on grass. (Is Max still injured?)
There's one for Luca Pow already assured. And two for the Play-off competition. It's going to be a scrap for the others - it's bound to be contentious.

yes 2 points here.
Recent decent players, from Murray, Evo, Edmund, Norrie, have actually created warped vision of our success. Like Evans said there is a dozen or so Argentinians ranked between 100-200, there is 18 Argentinians.
second, point Queens represents everything that is wrong about British tennis that Evans states. It is for toffs. Queens is a toffs club.
