Peniston is a futures level player, that had a random peak on grass last year. He does not deserve a WC. Before last year, he was futures player, then now, look at the race, he is a futures level. wake up.

Decent showing for George today, not exactly a youngster, and I don't know his story, and in the absence of lots of competition definitely a contender in my book.

I think someone mentioned he struggled with all the travelling and took a year away. Has been playing consistently now since January. I'd give him one too based on the huge improvement in his ranking and his performance this week against players already in qualifying. He won't look out of place.

Thanks for letting me know something about him. I really feel for these players sometimes. I know that at that age I would have struggled too, although I guess that they have support and know what they've signed up to more.

It feels like a mixed life with few getting to really reap it's rewards. Good luck to him. I hope he gets a WC, and would watch him with interst.

They said on commentary that he had a place at Loughborough University for last year and the coach there suggested that he just give the tour another go to see how things went and he started winning and didn't take up his place! Seems like a nice lad and pushed his opponent really hard in his most recent match.

Great win for Ryan earlier on today in an ATP500 tournament. Not bad for a futures level player

Looking at the others, and dependent on how they play in the grass lead-up events, I think Arthur Féry might have a decent chance of a MD wildcard - he would be my most likely 'other'. George Loffhagen is also possible. Both are young, and quite highly thought of. And both playing well.
But it's going to be a hot contest for those quali wildcard spots
We've got a lot of contenders for those, not only guys who are very close in ranking but people like Anton who are good on grass. (Is Max still injured?)
There's one for Luca Pow already assured. And two for the Play-off competition. It's going to be a scrap for the others - it's bound to be contentious.
