The official reason on the draw sheet for Fils withdrawal from Queens is hamstring strain.
Well, I guess if they give the wildcard and then he can't play and withdraws, the place will just go to the next on the list, which - almost certainly - is what it would have done even if he hadn't been given a wildcard in the first place
He's got a couple of weeks to recover so hopefully, for his sake, it's OK
He's certainly an exciting prospect, and there's a particular dearth of young black male tennis players so it's great to see France has two top prospects (him and Mpetshi Perricard)
No wild cards for the whole of the grass season for Broom & Whitehouse and Duncan & Willis, who are all individually ranked inside the top 250. I mean for one spot to go unused at Wimbledon over these guys getting in, I must say I am surprised.

Couldn't agree more
THey did it with the women one year recently - had a huge chunk of unused doubles wildcards.... why????
I know the press sometimes gives them a hard time re singles main draw ones - and maybe there's a point
But doubles? It's like the leftover women's quali wildcard. Just daft.
Give it to either of the two you mention. Or the U18 National champ doubles winners, if you want. Or Jan Choinski and someone else. Whatever. But ridiculous to waste them.
I honestly think the problem is the disconnect between the LTA and the AELTC. Different bodies with different agendas. Unlike every other Grand Slam.
