just realised CHarlie B is playing Novak; he was, of course, RU in 2019 at Ilkley. From what I remember of him, his game was very standard, upright, hard hitting but no real finesse. Lendl-esque but nowhere near as good as Lendl. He hasnt really pushed on in the rankings, but I think got injured for a short while. Still, will be a tough ask for Charlie, you never know though

Well, hes taken the first set on a tiebreak but has dropped serve instantly in the second. Could be going the distance, this.
It was a really great match. I saw the final set and Novak was frustrated by some quite tight line calls, not sure if it affected him that much, but Broomy stayed calm throughout, even when hed squandered three MPs in the final set TB. Managed to get my son a photo with him at the end of the match too, really nice lad!

FQR: (qWC) Charles Broom WR 425 defeated (q2) Dennis Novak (AUT) WR 160 by 7-6(1) 6-7(5) 7-6(8)
What's the betting he gets Toby or Harry in the first round?
Nope, drawn a player from the Netherlands who was born in Texas. Go Charlie!! See Nuno B is #1 seed, nice to see him progressing well on the tour, he is a friend of my sons roommate. Good luck to Toby and JoMo too
