Charles is playing really well. Serving great, and you can tell hes played three matches on the grass already. I would be concerned if Brancaccio gets into the second set and gets used to the surface, but as I type hes trying to save some more BPs

Wow. Broom serving a *4-1, serves two double faults and then shanks a forehand, before saving all three BPs with aces. Still another one to save now, advantage Brancaccio.

edit: After all that, broken. Still a break up at 6-1 4-2.

Am I right in saying this week are the first wins Charles has had since March? Knocking out 4 top 200 players in a row... great showing!

excellent result and, as mentioned elsewhere he either seems to have to withdraw now to try and play WC Play offs (which surely cant be right); or forego WC Play offs and any Wimbledon dream...or they do the sensible thing and give him a QWC for Wimbledon based on this weeks work

Great week and I have a feeling that will move him into the GB top 10.

Man, Charles played really well today. There were a few squeaky moments, but he stayed focussed mentally really well, and the Italian just didn't get used to the grass quickly enough. I think Charles needed to win in straight sets, though, as Brancaccio was beginning to find his feet at the end of the second set, and would have likely won the match if Charles hadn't closed it out there and then. But he was very impressive, didn't panic when things weren't going his way, and I look forward to seeing him again tomorrow.

Super for Charles  biggrin

Up to live ranked 372, indeed into the GB top 10, and with a Wimbledon Q WC.

Charlie is a lovely guy, super bright too, never really been an LTA fave but hung in!  Betting peeps have Piros in 3, but Charlie gets my vote smile
