Week 25 - LTA Wimbledon Wild Card Play Offs - London, Grass

You've got to love the men

Stuart took the first set 7-5 over Harry

Harry led 5-3 and served for the set

Then Stuart was leading 6-5 and served for the match

Now we're into a tie-break

And in the other match, Millen won set one, Dan Cox has just won set two, and the match goes on....

Millen hammered by Dan Cox in the deciding set of their match, which Dan takes by 6-7(1) 6-3 6-1.

Congrats to Dan !!!

Our first guaranteed quali wildcard winner

Very pleased for him; he's a real terrier, and isn't the youngest any longer - I enjoy watching him.

Good on you, Dan Cox

And for the second match of the day - phew -must be hot

(And here's hoping young Harry might get that last place)

Full SP:

7-5 6-7(7) 7-5

I wonder how long it lasted.

Well done Dan and Stuart - hope they go on and do some damage in the main qualies event

Well done Stuart. Nice guy, but why did he have to knock out my Top 500 hopeful ?

Hoping Harry W has done enough to be given one of those remaining QWCs

Maybe hell get an Eastbourne Q WC. A win there and hell get up the rankings quicker than any Wimbledon points!

I can remember at least two occasions where players have progressed from wild-card playoffs all the way to the 2nd round of the main draw.

So we can hope for even more than that.

Marcus Willis is obviously one of those, but who is the other ?

Well, Millen really has to play to win

I've no idea how the LTA would rank Dan Cox, Stuart and Harry W in terms of priority, if they had to. There's different arguments for each.

But I'm pretty sure that, whichever way you cut and dice it, Millen comes bottom of the pile by a long way.

You've got to feel a little sorry for Millen

It's always hard to be the one out of four who misses out

It was clear that it would be him, if he lost, but all the same

I wonder if he's effectively first ALT if one of the wildcards happens to drop out?
