Jodie played well at the end of the 2nd. Hope she can keep it up!

And she's came out on the right side of a couple of close games

2-0* final set.

So many errors from Burridge. 5-2 down in the first. There seems a massive gap between her and Harriet , Katie B at the moment

Certainly not in general re Jodie, and I don't just mean in respect of ranking points. At their bests Jodie IMO is better than Harriet and not that far away from Katie. Inconsistent yes but that has generally got much better.

Anyway at the latest 'moment' Jodie is a set all wirh Davis and an early break up in the third.

4-6 6-4 2-0*

Was the draw bigger last year? I remember there being maybe 3 rounds before the QF...

3 terrible errors from Davis take Jodie from game point down to match point.

Has a chance early in the rally but hopes the ball will go long, it doesn't and she's vulnerable. Barely gets her racket on two shots out wide, Davis has an easy put away but pats it to Jodie, who throws the ball up high and Davis nets. She grabs at her stomach so I think she was struggling with something.

But it's Jodie who is through 4-6 6-4 6-3 and likely to be back in the top 110 on Monday.

You're proven correct by the way she turned it round, and I'm very happy to be wrong!!!!!!

It just seems like you never know whats she's going to do next! It could be brilliant one game and then a double fault and wild shots the next to be broken to love.

Jodie struggled with the windy conditions in the early stages of the match, Lauren Davis seemed much more comfortable. Four Burrage errors saw her get broken for 1-3* then she recovered the break as Lauren served for the set, only to get broken to love.

As the match progressed Jodie appeared to serve a bit better, though consecutive dfs hurt her as she was broken for 2-2 in the 2nd set. Another df forced her to save bp with a decent forehand crosscourt at *4-3, before closing out the set to love 6-4.

Jodie punished a couple of 2nd serves at the start of the 3rd set, got a lucky net cord return winner then ultimately benefitted from two errors from Davis. A couple of good first serves at the start of Burrage's service game, and two aces to close out the following service game, Jodie held throughout the 3rd set without facing a break point, though 3 times a poor error made it 30-30, then Burrage won the next 2 points.

Crazy final rally ending with Lauren's smash into the bottom of the net. There were at least two superb drop shot winners from Jodie, though she was unable to get a good contact on any of her volleys. Lauren made some surprising errors in the final set, having had a medical time out early in the 2nd set.

I have much more faith in JBs career when she wins these type of awkward, ugly matches. We know she can punch with the best of them, but these sort of wins show how much she has matured
