Lucas rather sucked George into his trap there - and George didn't see what he was doing....

Shame :(

But next week is the biggie....

L28:  (Q) Luca Van Assche (FRA) WR 79 defeated (WC) George Loffhagen WR 367 by 2-6 7-6(5) 7-6(4) in just short of three hours  hmm

Good grief how did Loffhagen lose that match .

That will be devastating and he really cant blame some super play from his opponent . To serve for the match twice and blow it is really a massive choke. He even led the second set tie break and threw that away .

This was a great chance for a win at ATP tour level. Hell either learn from this horror show or it will haunt him the next time hes in a winning position .

He had enough chances to win that match.
Just a lack of experience.

The real shame is that Luca has an equal lack of experience

He's only 19

He'll have been really nervous too

:(

Ryan Peniston 6-3, 5-1 down to Marc-Andrea Huesler. Come on Ryan. You can turn this round!

Sad for Ryan, he did so very well here last year, and at Queens (last year).

Shame for George - he really did have that one won. Having seen him play live in two matches at Nottingham as well as on TV today, I am really quite impressed by George despite the defeat today. He is turning into one of my little faves (if i may borrow your expression CD) and will be looking out for him next week and in the future. Lets all hope he can keep progressing.

Ryans result was probably expected despite the past H2H - things arent generally going for him so well this time around, the win at Queens last week excepting.

George hit too many errors in the final set and Luca cleaned up his game - that was the difference really. That said, imo, if we didn't know it before, George is the real deal and certainly the game (and the potential upside) to become an ATP tour regular.

Liam Broady looking far more interested and inspired than he did at Queens already.

Is nobody else watching this all British clash between LB and Jan Choinski?

Liam won the first set 6-3 and just served to go 4-2 in the second but blew it through a combination of double faults and inaccuracies and allowed Jan back into the set.

I tend to work on the general rule of thumb that if nobody is posting, it is because they ARE watching.

Liam to serve for the match at *5-4

Pleased for Liam. He has had a tough run since injury halted his early season progress.
