Absolutely chuffed to bits for Billy. LTA tweeting about him. Mike Dickson tweeting about him. Even Marcus Willis tweeting about him which might prove relevant and useful if he ends up playing Berankis in the FQR.

I remember Mike doing a good  piece on him when he played on Christmas Day in 2020.

Well, Bob.  What say you now?  Has he ever played a best-of-five match before?  wink

He anwered my question himself in his brief interview with Annie K just now:  tomorrow will be his first best-of-five.

I think a guy who played on 42 consecutive days in the UK Pro League can cope LOL. Stamina shouldn't be a problem.

FQR:  Hamad Medjedovic (SRB) WR 156 (= CH) vs (qWC) Billy Harris WR 346

The young Serb won his QR2 in six minutes shy of three hours.

He looks very fit. I hope that's not dooming him but he looks like he's worked on fitness quite a bit.

I fear Castle and Lloyd might be on pretending they know Billy tomorrow and patronising him to the hilt.

I'm expecting it to be the Beeb's Red Button channel, Bob, from 11.00 BST.

I m quite amazed the FQR for men is still best of 5 sets, not sure if that fits in with the modern game - it is what it is, hope Billy pulls it off!!

The young Serb's match was a pretty bad-tempered affair.

I don't know quite who was in the right or wrong, but him and Berankis were hardly talking at the end - it was all pretty feisty

So, Billy, you're warned....

I was just SO delighted that Billy won

Partly as a plus for Billy

But also very much as a sticking it to Hugo Gaston who really is not a pleasany bloke

The sad thing is that I knew Hugo G as a kid and he was as sweet as pie. And speaking to some of the French contingent, he stayed like that all through his juniors and the start of his career.

AND THEN he had that amazing run at Roland Garros, was the last French guy standing, playing crazy crowd-delight daft tennis.

And basically it completely went to his head and he became, overnight, just the most precious little diva you could possibly imagine.

And worse than that, he's also been fined approx £125k (halved on appeal) for unsportsmanlike conduct - at Madrid he took a ball out of his pocket and threw it on the court while his opponent was about to smash an overhead. In order to force the umpire to call a let. And it's not the first time either. He's done it before. And, in fact, has had four unsportsmanlike conduct warnings in the past 12 months, I believe.

He really is a little turd (a view held by the French team I talked to too) - so great delight when Billy put him firmly in his place !
