He served that out SO well - in fact, he had a stranglehold on that whole second half of that set - just looked like 'it's MY match', said Billy Harris

But at least he WON !

Unlike Stu-boy, and Dan Cox, who lost their three setters (and Harry who had set point)

I'd take it, Bob biggrin

Too right I'll take it but that 2nd set really had me stressed.

Arthur was there today, jabbering away in French to his French coach (or French guy whom I assume is his coach)

Also Will Jansen

And saw Felix Gill on the bus ...

We were very close to an absolutely amazing day - Dan Cox really had that match but was a tiny bit passive at the end, and Gaio suddenly battened down the hatches, which obviously was what was needed, but a shame... Stuart got closer than I'd expected so no great regrets. Real shame though that Harry didn't get the second set.... might well have swung the match - it actually was very close. Luca was not really in it.

I had Leandro Reidi down as my 'must see' match and it didn't disappoint

He's been prone to slightly spolit brat behaviour in the past but his tennis is pretty amazing, and he's still young, age 21, and Kokkinakis didn't really know what to do (I was amused too by the steward who kept saying to people 'I'm sorry, there are no seats left, everyone wants to see Kyrgios play')

My other 'must see' what Luca Nardi - and again that didn't disappoint - he's only 19 and real class

The best match by far though was Arnaldi v Shang

Arnaldi is already ATP 78 so shouldn't really be in qualis. And playing Shang who is still a junior, born 2005

A complete revelation. I know he's ex-junior #1 but I don't remember really seeing him play

The two guys had such fluidity and acceleration of shot. And net play. And variety. And were really enjoying it too. A real cracker of a match.

Harry W has gone down, in straight sets, Stu Parker close to going down.

FWIW, I would go three to go through - 3 of Monday, Cox, Harris and Broom. But not all 4. Life doesnt typically work out that nicely!!

You got that 3 out of 4 plus a bonus    Good picking. And Dan was so close.

You're right, Indy, Toby was the revelation - amazing win - not on my radar at all - not sure who my four were, but they weren't Toby ! smile

Just a reminder that the four lads have all won £21,750 today

(I think it's far more flexible now for US college players to keep thier earnings, no?)

And 8 points.

Dont think they can keep that much. From a quick search an article from 2019 says you can keep money based on expenses and then 10 000 dollars a year on top.

Edit: what did change a couple of years ago was players can keep sponsorship not related to the sport. So if you advertised the local Chicken shop then you could keep that. I think this will mainly only helps American Football players and Basketball players who get the attendance that make the players stars.

 Thanks

I put a post in the US college thread because I remember the 10k limit but had some vague thought in my head that it had been relaxed a bit - but might well be wrong

Coz JoMo and Toby, of course, have another £7k approx guaranteed from doubles. And the bits they've got already this summer. It's beginning to add up......
