That was a lovely interview by Halys - clearly a placid man (im not sure if thats the right word) but you could see how much that meant to him to play there and to win.d
I remember commenting on Halys several years ago on here, think I expected him to be a Top 10 player. He looked the better player by a distance last night grass seems to suit him very well indeed. Maybe coming to him later like many players these days. Dan doesnt look happy this year on the court and hes way down in the 70s in the race rankings likely to drop further.

Yes. I think one of Halys' problems is that it wasn't only you - most of France expected him to be a top-10 player (I remember Gary - Marcus Willis' old sponsor, on this forum - in raptures about Halys too). He won Les Petits As. He beat an ATP top-150 player when he was only 16. It was all supposed to happen, in spades.
And I'm not sure if it was just the weight of expectation or if there were more specific issues but it obviously never happened and Quentin is always referred to in the French press as 'the ex-great hope for French tennis' (sub-text 'the great disappointment of French tennis') which can't be easy
He's 26 now. And says he's now playing just for himself. Unlike some of the little drama divas, Quentin has always seemed like a decent guy. I was rooting for Dan, and I was very pleased that Dan played two good sets at the end - I think it would have been really depressing if he'd just played another like the two on Monday, at least there were some positives - but I was pleased for Quentin too.

With the opponents Arthur , George and Jan have, anything today would be amazing. Even a set or two would be more than we might expect.
Looks like it will be down to Andy, Cam and Liam to fly the flag tomorrow
Looking at the draw, there is a reasonable chance of Cam and Andy facing off in the last 16. Certainly not beyond our hopes, although both have potholes on their paths to that round.

Yes I like Halys, very unaffected and humble guy. As much as I was cheering Dan on couldnt help but enjoy Quentins game and demeanour
No play yet and rain due for another 30 minutes according to one app. So probably earliest play start 13:00. Another 2 hours of play lost. Must be the most rain affected Wimbledon for a few years. Not been that bad in recent years if memory serves me right.

No play on the outside courts before 12.30, according to the Beeb.
Was interested to hear from Jonathan Overend on Radio 5 Live about the fantastic run Cam had here last year that took him into the top 10.
Cam had been top 10 in April last year and was to get back there in August. But strangely enough wasn't top 10 immediately before or even after last year's Wimbledon.

How could Cam's run here last year have ... 'taken him into the Top 10'. There were no ranking points issued last year.
but the mess of yesterday was too much to get past
All too late....
COngrats to Halys though - he played a good match here
Pity the commentators/interviewer can't be bothered to learn the correct pronuncation of "Quentin"...
I know - my 'French' son walked through the room yesterday as the commentator was saying it, and stopped short and said something along the lines of 'WTF?'
I know that pronounciations are difficult - but if you've only got two players, and they play a match for about three hours, I do feel that you've got enough time to check how to say the guy's name !!!
