A very good show on the show court by Dan

but the mess of yesterday was too much to get past

All too late....

COngrats to Halys though - he played a good match here

Pity the commentators/interviewer can't be bothered to learn the correct pronuncation of "Quentin"...   furious

I know - my 'French' son walked through the room yesterday as the commentator was saying it, and stopped short and said something along the lines of 'WTF?'

I know that pronounciations are difficult - but if you've only got two players, and they play a match for about three hours, I do feel that you've got enough time to check how to say the guy's name !!!

Almost ten times worse, I'd say:  I swear that I heard Nesta McGregor (I think) pronounce Daria Saville's surname "Seville" yesterday!  disbelief  Absolutely no excuse for that.  But then, he's from a generation that seems to think monarchs are "coronated" & people "registrated"...  bleh

They're doing it again with "Stefanos Tsitsipas":  the stress should be on the first syllable of his Christian name &, strictly speaking, on the final syllable of his surname.

out of interest, should it sound like "Sit see pass" or "Sissy pass"?

Neither "T" is silent:  Tsit-see-PAS

Oh, & off topic, the Beeb's caption-writers think there's only one "L" in "equalled"!  evileye

Commentators just said the Liam pays his own coaching bills - is he not funded by the LTA?

Also is it John Lloyd who keeps banging on about how the rankings for Liam dont lie? Commentary has too many negative comments altogether for my liking hmm  #LetsgoLiam

I dont want to turn this into a continual bashing of those two insufferable voices we are hearing but its really really bad all the negativity towards Liam, I wonder if because Liam is quite left wing if this plays a part given what those two are like. Hes maybe a bit too progressive for those two dinosaurs. Its going on mute now, Im sure I wont be the only one.

First set to Liam by 6-4 after he spurned set points in the ninth game.  Still needs to do something about his first service, though.

I never put the commentary on anymore when I am watching matches on TV!

Interesting to hear, however, that Liam is great mates with Laurent Lokoli

(The ONLY thing that Andrew Castle is any good at is gossip and snipbits)

Supposedly Liam and Lokoli often hang out and they had a long chat before this match, so Lolo could give him lots of tips about Ruud on grass

Must say I'm not at all surprised - Lokoli is one of my faves, as a guy - laid back, fun, very 'Corsican', never really fitted into the French federation - I can' absolutely imagine him and Liam being mates

Mind you, Lokoli has had a tough time:

I grew up with my parents and three older sisters in Corsica, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. At age 10, life put me on my knees when one of my sisters was diagnosed with cancer. For two years, I watched her fight for her life. When she lost her hair she was crying and hugging me and I felt powerless. After a long and hard fight, she beat cancer and made me promise to never give up. At age 12, I left home to train. I struggled with tennis because I was alone and my parents were getting divorced. Finally, I found my rhythm but then I experienced the deepest pain of my life. At age 14, my oldest sister passed away in a car accident at 28 years old. I felt like someone took my heart from my chest and I couldnt handle the pain. My sister was a lawyer and my role model and she left me without a landmark. I became a totally different person, fighting my pain in darkness and solitude. I was seen as an outsider in the French Federation. I was alone and struggled to make friends. I watched my family fall....."

Andrew Castle is the one who does my head in. He constantly rattles on during play when you want him to shut up so you can absorb what is happening on the court. Him and Lloyd talking away like two pensioners about the olden days. They never know when to stop. And does Castle have to keep telling us every 15 minutes or so, "You are watching Wimbledon, a second round match between blah blah blah. He comes out with the obvious far too often. Wimbledon might be progressive but these two sure ain't.

Ruud takes the second set by 6-3 to level the match.

You're obviously not one of Jaggy's "like-minded decent people", then, twentytoone.  wink
