I'd never heard Chris Eubanks before - what an excellent interview - the guy talks and comes across really well

Loved his joke about Federer

Shame for Norrie but glad for Eubanks - say him at Surbiton but, as he said himself, he hated grass there and now it's all different

Massive shame. Broady had many chances in both sets 3 and 4, but couldnt play the big points well. Hell be kicking himself, this was the opportunity of his career.

Absolutely, particularly with the prospect of a very winnable tie in the 4th round as the prize.  I must admit after the first set I was daydreaming about a run to the QF.

Agree. But I think the mental and physical exertions of the last 48 hours caught up with him.  He lacked the energy from midway through the 3rd set and was hanging on.

such a shame - I was so disappointed for Andy, will that be his last Wimbledon match? I hope he has one more in him, next year.

Liam - should take confidence and he can push on now in the USA to get top 100, go Liam

Cam - needs to find confidence and game from somewhere; he will, I think.

But seeing the British mens singles effort over by before the end of week 1 is disappointing, overall.

Really gutting for Andy to lose this match given the draw he could have easily made QFs and then a possible match with Medvedev and hed have a good chance to make the SFs .

Its for this reason that this loss is going to be particularly difficult for him to cope with .

Of course what might have been especially with that failure to challenge the call at 4-4 .

A really disappointing day today overall .

Do you think we are missing Jack D?

Jon is talking about the men who have just lost in R2/3. Jack doesn't apply because he is injured. Dan didn't merit a comment because he was discussed after his R1 loss.

I'm not sure Jack would've done much better tbh.

Yes, it would have been great to have the 'young gun' out on court and fully fit. It would have given a different dimension. As Blue Belle says,  he may well have done no better than any of the rest. But it would have been a different story, with more 'future'.

The problem here is that Liam's exploit was the only one that stood out - and it was a great exploit. Just amazing. But there's no getting round the fact he's 29 and never been top-100. So it's a great 'outsider-comes-good' story. But it's not really exciting for tip-top GB tenis going forward. Arthur and George performed very well. But playing top-10 players was always too big an ask.

So, yes, overall, a bit disappointing from the men. We had two seeded players and an ex-Champion. And no one in week two.....

Yes, as blue Belle said I was mainly commenting on those who lost yesterday ; in terms of Jack D, we very much miss him. He is the one player we have with real potential to be at the top, hed be top 20 by now without injuries and clearly has top 10 potential. Who knows what he would have done this Wimbledon , fit and healthy , he could have done very well

Well Dan has already spoken about his issues and I really think this is the start of the slow decline, with the odd good result.

The only one I'm particularly disappointed in is Cam but as mentioned Cam's form this year has been quite shaky.

Andy may be a 2 time ex Champion but he is in his later 30s and has a metal hip. Not to say he didn't have his chances though. I do feel if the curfew hadn't come into play, it may well have turned into another glorious win much like we saw in Australia.

Evo's recent comments about papering over the cracks are coming to mind for me this morning.

Feel like I agree re Dan. I think he looks really fit though and seldom gets injured, he like Andy loves the sport and i reckon we will see him remain top 100 for another year or two - wouldnt surprise me if 2025 is his final season, Andy I reckon next season will be his last. Andy can make top 30 and get those slam seedings and I think will want to see where that takes him through his final year.
