Great last 8. Who said tennis was dying when the big 3 started to fade? Alcaraz, rune, sinner , Medvedev , Rublev are all entertaining players , good to watch
Finally they are closing the roof on centre court Why they couldn't do it at the end of the last set is a mystery. The break will suit Matteo more than Carlos.

Alcaraz came through though. Was surprised to see two mens last 8 matches tomorrow and two Wednesday, is that a recent change to the usual schedule? I thought all were usually Wednesday ?
anyway , the last 8 is very tasty, top half particularly interesting
Runes Vrs Alcaraz in the quarter final. Does anybody know the head to head between those two?
Tbh it wasn't vintage Carlos - as much as there can be vintage Carlos at 20yo - but Matteo never looked like he believed he could win, even after he took the first set, maybe the hype got to him but this was a muted MB compared to the previous rounds, all in all I think Nicolás Jarry gave CA a sterner test.

sorry Jon cross posting.
Of course at some point you're going to end up with a fresher player playing a tireder player in the semis or the final but it will be ignored, dismissed as sour grapes if the guy who has a day's less rest loses and dares to complain, nobody likes a bad loser lol!

Rune is 1-0 on Alcaraz but it was on a retirement.
fwiw I am going with Alcaraz, Medvedev, sinner and Djokovic to win - sadly very safe but o just think these 4 have an edge on their opponents - that said, all 4 wont have it their own way and Rune over Alcaraz is , for me, the closest to call.
Yeah Tuesdays were traditionally ladies quarter finals day where all 4 matches were played and then all 4 mens being played on the Wednesday. Not sure when that changed actually?

Probably just recently when the Sunday play started and manic Monday ended? Which may have been last season or two at most?

Yes, it changed last year which was when Sunday play was introduced. So they now continue through Tuesday and Wednesday with 2 men's QFs and 2 women's QFs each day, basically continuing to have halves of draws on separate days.
The traditional singles second week now only starts on Thursday with the women's SFs.
So really pretty much like the other Slams now with no Manic Monday or separate men's and women's QF days
