Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - main draw

I don't think there is anyone else playing at his level at the moment - how long - and how many Grand Slams - will he have before someone comes along and challenges him?

Congratulations Carlos! I was upset that Ons didn't come through yesterday, but you have turned that around today. How many Wimbledon titles will you win? Who knows. It takes two to make a fabulous match, so thanks to Novak for making this one to remember. Goodness, what shall I do next week? I hate it when Wimbledon ends! ( PS shout out to Henry Searle - well done you g man!)

4 hours to play a 4 set match on grass.

Sorry, its not for me!

From Alcaraz's R3 match vs Jarry to the final over 5 sets and not far off 5 hours, including two 6-1 sets.

Again it did quite well for me. The Slams remain the ultimate and tough well crafted rallies great to see. Super match, well done to Novak and especially well done, Carlos

We  chose to watch the match with Italian friends in Italian - couldnt understand much, but what a result not having to listen to AC at clown central biggrin  Its also possible to turn off the commentary altogether, but can still hear the ball being struck etc. Wish you could do that on iplayer!! Fantastic result and soooo exciting

There must be something in the Sangria. Congratulations Carlos. A wonderful new Champion and who knows how many slams he will get.
He has certainly raised the bar for others to try and catch him. Nice runners up speech from Novak.

Post Wimbledon Blues start tomorrow.

The Telegrapg reports that the fastest serve of the day was not Alcaraz, not Djokovic - it was Henry Searle, with 134 mph !

I'm not a huge fan of the on-court interviews, but very well done to Annabel Croft. Sue Barker was a very hard act to follow and I thought she did really well.
I've managed to avoid all the studio chat by choosing matches on iplayer!

I actually have been warming to Novak recently his antics and interviews are actually quite funny. But having said that Carlos is such a lovely young man and some of those shots to win when serving out were unbelievable. Unlike the previous generation of big 3 and Murray and Stan I cant see anyone else getting near him. There is even a gulf in class evident to the likes of Medvedev, Ruud etc. 2 Slams at 20 hes surely going to be double figures.

I totally agree. I have avoided all BBC coverage this year apart from the matches as without Sue Barker its been hopeless. But Annabelle has been a breath of fresh air after all the dross. She really should be the lead presenter, taking Sues role.

Real shame they dont close it out with the mixed doubles final any more. Always felt perfect in that slot. Not sure anyone staying for this ladies doubles

Maybe they should have Doubles Finals day Saturday and Singles Finals day Sunday.  If they did that the Men's doubles could revert to 5 sets, they could actually trial the Womens Doubles to 5 sets too.

Andrew Castle gave one journalist some good copy!     There must be masses of non mailonline readers here who would enjoy this.
