Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - main draw

Djoko's apparently been fined the princely sum of US$8,000 (£6,117) for smashing his racquet against the net post in the fifth set.  The amount will be deducted from his £1.175m runner-up prize money...  disbelief

Loving all the stick Andrew Castle is getting in the press for his annoying commentary.
Looks like most folk have finally had enough of him wittering on and on.

Lots of praise for our Annabelle and her presenting skills doing the trophy ceremonies.
Many calling for her to be the new anchor presenter instead of Balding.

Andrew Castle gave one journalist some good copy!     There must be masses of non mailonline readers here who would enjoy this.

This article made my day biggrin

Although I did think the casual racism and the horrible class condescension that he displayed in the Wimbly qualis was far worse than his general twittering nonsense

Even if the bbc ditched castle you know they would just provide us with more John Lloyd.

I had only just taken a look but realise Alcaraz is straight back out this week in the re-located and certainly not needed Hopman Cup in Nice. He plays for Spain and is due to play Friday.

Sort of wow, good for him. But the Hopman Cup in Nice makes no sense - the provenance is not relevant, Hopman was an Aussie and it being in Nice doesnt work; but also the fact it is on clay (why? the top players are surely gearing for hardcourt now and the US swing, why play for no points in an event that has no point. It worked in Australia a few years back and shouldnt have been replaced - the ATP and WTA have now got the United Cup, they should have just let this die.

Was market forces. Wouldn't have been reinstated  if a promoter (in this case Tennium) hadn't come forward.

I see the BBC have had to respond today with a statement due to all the complaints about that Tory clown (copyright Kyrgios) Castle.

Im assuming when complaints reach a certain number they must be obliged to. Seems the Djokovic firing his racket at the net posts was the main complaint.

Fingers crossed for next here. Hopefully take Henman with him.

The BBC statement in full, such as it is.  Seems to be only the "Djokovic incident" which prompted it.

A few of us have made similar complaints against him but I dont think that was one of them, not mine anyway. They must be working their way through a backlog

The way Castle was obsessed with that security guard called Jack was nauseating.

Just replace Andrew castle with Andrew Cotter as the lead. Problem solved!

Not a great fan, but if everyone else wants him, I'd concede by popular demand
