Brilliant week for Evo. Haven't seen any of the match but by all accounts, Dan is playing very well again. Great to see. Like others, I had my doubts about his future.
Will be the biggest match of Evos career, Id say, first 500 final, first time hes had 500 points on the line, other than his Canadian masters semi last year and Monte Carlo? Certainly up there?
Big choice - do I follow Dan at 5 pm or the England ladies in the World Netball final at the same time ?! Seriously, that is going to be a watching two things at the same time call!

I assume with Evo some people cant get over the drugs ban. Some people never like players post ban. Not that Im one of them.
Whenever I watched Dan crowd is usually very supportive.
Sadly people can be very unforgiving and have long memories. There are still plenty out there who bring up Andy's 'anyone but England' comment. Many of them are just attention seekers in my opinion.
I think people like jumping on bandwagons. Meghan Markle is the devil, Andy Murray hates the English (despite being married to an Englishwoman and living here) because of one joke, the BBC are completely biased towards/against the left/the right (delete as appropriate). If you repeat something online/in print often enough it becomes commonly accepted. I find it baffling but there we are.
As for Evo, I really like him but don't always agree with some of his off the cuff comments. The drugs ban didn't involve him actually trying to cheat and he took his punishment admirably and didn't try and complain about it. Glad to see him back to form. What always surprises me is how people can have such a trough in form and then bounce back.
I also think people become invested in their opinions and so it becomes very difficult to change
For those people who voted for Tony Blair or Boris Johnson, say, it becomes very difficult to change your mind about the guy, even if new info comes out, because it's basically admitting you're wrong.
So, yes, the Andy quip sticks, as does Dan and the drugs
I have hardly ever heard or seen on twitter anti-Dan stuff though due to xenophobia
He wasn't uncomplimentary about Bedene, from what I remember, just said he didn't consider him a truly British player, as he'd only been a nominally British player for 6 months or whatever.
Which, I think, is interesting - having lived full-time in several different countries, with kids of different nationalities etc etc, I find the concept of nationality and what it involves, technically or intrinstically, very interesting, and very difficult to pin down, and Dan has a valid point.

When you come on to read through the comments of a great week and have to shift through this
I think it was my fault Jimmy as I commented on the number of twitter haters Of Dan. Sorry
more importantly , Dan has played Griekspoor twice and won 6-3 6-4 twice on indoor hard court in the autumn of last year. Although the Dutchman is on form , his career has been a slow burn, hes 27, and many of us will remember him playing lots of British ITF events until just before Covid.
Dan has a chance to win this for sure.

7-5 first set Evo. Richly deserved on the balance of play in that set, will be a tall order to keep such a level up for the whole match (but fingers crossed).
