I'd written Dan off and thought he was heading towards calling it a day, glad to be proven wrong! What a week out of nowhere, long may it continue. Well done Dan!
Well done Dan. What an achievement for his hard work and not giving up. Just shows you anything can happen and does from week to week.
Absolutely.
Worth bearing in mind that he didn't reach top 100 until May 2016 when he would have been nearly 26. We definitely shouldn't be writing off our players too early!
I wouldn't blame Evo if he schedules around making the top 20. At 33 and having been so close, I'm sure this is a big goal for him.
No need for a change in schedule. It's all about winning matches, and he's currently entered into all upcoming events: Canada, Cincinnati, Winston Salem and US Open. He's over 200 points away from the Top 20 with his 2022 Canada points taken off, so still a way to go.

Depends whether a strong slam performance or top 20 is The aim. hed decided his aim was slams and thus missing events before slams supported that plan. He entered Winston Salem because his form was so poor. Does he now ditch Salem and go for slams or keep it and go for top 20 Short Term?

Surely it depends how he gets on in the next two Masters? If he goes deep in Cincinnati (or even both) then I would expect him to skip Winston Salem, but if he has early exits again I guess he'll probably play.
Fantastic news. Am I right in thinking this is Dan's first ATP main tour title ?
Edit
Question answered.

As the BBC article says, it is Dan's first ATP 500 title. He did win the Melbourne ATP 250 title in early February 2021.
And Washington is a real event, with history. Its been going for many years in various guises, been a mainstay of the US Summer. Melbourne was a contrived one off with no provenance. which probably makes no difference really but makes Washington feel more important historically. Pride and history are important !
