5-4* now some great hitting and a couple of winners. Why does he not just start like this? Time and time again gives himself trouble.

Hopefully breaks to finish now for a fortunate escape

Andy misses the first match point and shakes the second just out.

Back to Deuce could be a big chance lost here.

*5-5 final set.

Andy FFS did all the hard work and had chances on both match points.

If Andy did somehow end up seeded at the US Open it might actually end up a bad thing. Seeded 28-32 then he would run into Djokovic, Alcaraz or Medvedev in round 3 in all likelihood. I still think or its maybe false hope, that he has one fairytale Grand Slam quarter or semi left in him. An Emma Raducanu US Open or Kyle Edmund Aus Open SF style draw opening up is probably his best chance. Anyone else agree?

Phew, that was pulled out of the hat, but well done. Takes Andy to live 36. Has he got a deep run in him? well I really dont know. He definitely needs it opening up for him and maybe being unseeded is better, as you say. I also think he will struggle to get seeded being honest, cant see him beating Sinner, and needs a run in Cinci then.

Jamie and Joe are on court in doubles action this evening; Andy versus Sinner is main show court match in the prime slot which will be the early hours of our morning, around 1.20am. Wont be staying up for that one Im afraid , not with work in the morning!

 As an aside, it's 25-32 v 1-8 in 3rd round (not 29-32 v 1-4) but still a point well made.

It only takes a Broady-like knocking out a random seed though for it all to open up.

A 1 in 47.5 chance of meeting Djokovic or Alcaraz in round 1, or a 1 in 4 chance of meeting them in round 3?

It's a tough call.
