Absolutely brilliant winner for the tournament and the women's game. She's a fantastic ambassador for the sport as others have said. Great stuff.

Coco is the first American to win a Grand Slam singles title since Kenin at the 2020 Australian Open.

Both Coco and Bianca won their last tournament before the US Open win. Emma was runner up in hers so recent form counts. Not sure about other occasions but Coco matched Virginia Wade in 1968 in winning the US Open after losing  in the first round of Wimbledon. The last 3 players to beat Coco were all American.i.e . Pegula, Kenin and Keys.
