That's the problem. The standard, accepted time for a match is 1hr30 mins. Well, it is in France, for a French tournament referee. And that includes turnaround time. Which I always thought was really skinny. But it's what it is. Which leads to the problems you're talking about
At pro level, length of matches has been growing, 90 mins is skinny. I used to use 4 mins per game as a benchmark in the day; for a 2 1/2 set average match, youd be looking at 24-25 games, 100 mins. Without turnaround time. But matches these days are averaging beyond 4 mins per game and getting towards 4.5 mins per game, so youd be looking at 25 games taking close to 2 hours, definitely over 2 hours with turnaround built in.
And if the players incl someone like Andy, or closely matched baseliners like Djoko or Medvedev, Sinner, etc you will get 5 mins per game!
So I agree - no wonder we have problems!!
Well, we will if tournaments don't take on board such information and adapt accordingly!
A bit of a blow given the success they've had. Neal and Wesley to split.
oh, no, that is a real disappointment. Looks like Wes has Mektic lined up as a new partner. So what now for Neal? Lloyd would come to mind, but is Lloyd the same level as Wes or can he be? Merry go round will happen of course - will Joe and Rajeev continue, they got the US Open and obviously great friends, but will Rajeev want to continue the grind - Neal and Joe? Does that work. Neal and Pavic, I think he is free, Harri also, but is he good enough.
Real blow!
Heliovaara and Pavic have started to play together so that may end up being a pair for 2024.
So Koohlof is back with Mektic, who dumped him to partner Pavic, who dumped Soares who reformed with Murray, who dumped Skupski. And so the doubles merry-go-round continues. I think when on top form, Koolhof is the best doubles player out there, so a shame, but Wimbledon aside, they've not played so well this year.
Interesting though that Cash, Patten, Glasspool, Skupski (and Salisbury?) will all have new partners in 2024.
Harri in his blog announced Pavic is with Arevalo for 2024. leaves Rojer available , but Rojer is 42 now I believe ?
I agree Koolhof is the best out there , just.
id love to see Neal and Dan but it wont happen , yet at least.
Apparently Glasspool is due to play with (42 year old) Rojer in 2024
QF: Nathaniel Lammons & Jackson Withrow (USA/USA) CR 51 (27+24) vs (4) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 11 (5+6)
Joe & Neal & their respective partners are on course to meet in the semi-final. The Yanks beat the sixth seeds, González (Máximo) & Molteni, in straight sets in their last 16 match...

Griekspoor took the first set off Djoko. I remember him and did he have a brother, playing British ITF events not that many years ago!
He has two older brothers, twins, Kevin & Scott, both of whom appear to have retired from the game.
Thats right- I think all 3 played British events at some point, not with any success though , I dont think. Tallon by far the most successful and hes 27, found his place at this level relatively late.

Todays 6 matches have played 137 games and 600 minutes, 4 mins 25 seconds per game or thereabouts. Which id say is average for pro tennis these days. As per above .
