Saw a bit of this, had never seen James play before and from what I saw felt there was no way he would win this the way he was playing so went off to do ther things. Nice to have been proven wrong.

Watching a bit of Anthony Wright for the first time (certainly from recollection)

Very decent game - went and searched him on Google and interested to read that he's due to start at North Carolina in Jan 2024 and he moved to Poland to improve, and has played a lot of UTR events:

"Wright (London, England) has competed at the national level since age nine but burst onto the international scene more recently. Just over a year ago, he moved to Poland, his mother's home, to train and hone his craft. His game took off from there and his UTR has progressively improved over the last 12 months. Shortly after arriving in Poland, he won his first ITF title.

Over the last year, Wright has played on the UTR pro circuit, defeating a number of ranked opponents in places like Costa Rica, Wales and the Czech Republic on the international circuit. He qualified for a Futures main draw in just his second tournament in November 2022. His UTR has climbed steadily and reached a high of 12.70 earlier this month.

"My clear improvement over the last 12 months has given me the opportunity to go to UNC, a place which few have the privilege to attend, and I believe it's the place to be for me," Wright says."

In the main draw, wildcards have gone to:

Henry Searle, James Davis, Mike Shaw and George Houghton

There's a LL spot, but it's gone to the Italian who lost narrowly to Zhu

One GREAT name to see in the list is that of Ali Gray

Young Henry has the Belgian 18 year-old who won last week in Glasgow.....got to hope he's a bit tired (the Belgian, that is)

Good to see Ali G back on court - although he may have played in the last couple of weeks because I have been so out of it, that I might not have noticed.

I guess one had to lose - pleased for Ali, good to see him back and hope he gets a few events in this season and stays fit.

Disappointed for Paul, hope he can keep on plugging away and bouncing back!
