Week 45 - ATP 250 - Sofia, Bulgaria (indoor hard)

A fairytale for Billy. So exciting for him and for British tennis. Surely he's owed some WCs next summer? No one deserves it more.

The press really havent caught on to Billys story. Which amazes me - it would make a great film as well!

Looking at twitter , looks like a number of betters made some decent money on Billy, seems like he is well liked by one or two of them!

someone called Tony Soprano out on 7k and won 16.5k

Forgot Jack was playing but good , solid win, well done. Tennis Abstract rates Jack to beat Musetti and , indeed, win the event. That would be good, on both fronts!

BBC now with a nice write up. Wonderful for Billy, so well deserved. Hope he keeps climbing, would love him to snatch a win at wimbledon! A nice draw like Ali and Jan did would be super!

The Beeb report.  Honourable mentions for his dad & his sponsor.  Pity he couldn't have managed one for Bob in connection with his life while he was driving hither & thither in the Transit van.

Stu Fraser's version from today's Times which covers much of the same ground, but adds a few details & includes a photo of Billy leaning against the now legendary van.  smile

Billy has played 87 matches so far this season. Thats a lot- in 2017, he managed 95 but that was all at ITF level. Doubt there are any other players who have played so many matches.

Agreed! Glad the press are into his story now, hopefully that will earn him some endorsements and support. Billy's ytd earnings on court are now up to $113k, jut over Arthur who is at $112k, obviously boosted by the Wimbledon money.

If nothing else, it sounds like Billy will get into not just AO qualies but also, probably, RG qualies (if he has no points coming off until April) and then surely a Wimbledon MD WC this season. And will be able to play at Challenger level consistently now, as opposed to ITF.

So he has some better money days to come!

The Patten/Cabral match is almost a rerun of today's final in the Bergamo Challenger!

Henry + lost 10-7 in the MTB in their doubles match this morning
