The knockout phase is almost upon us (Tuesday, 21st to Sunday, 26th November). The depleted (?) British team will now consist of Cam Norrie, Andy, Jack Draper, Neal Skupski & Joe Salisbury, who's been drafted in in place of an injured Dan Evans. Joe has a record of two wins & four defeats from six DC ties. Britain's quarter-final tie against Serbia will kick off "not before" 16.00 local time (so 15.00 GMT) next Thursday (23rd November), with the semi, if we get that far (!), at 12 noon local time on the 25th. The Beeb will be showing all GB ties live on iPlayer & the BBC Sport web site.
I can't help feeling that Dan's absence will be felt, given that he was instrumental in helping us qualify for the QFs when he & Neal heroically saved four match points before winning the deciding doubles against France in Manchester in September.
Good intro , SC, looking forward to this. Cant help but feel its on the doubles versus Serbia. Cant recall our potential semis opponents, lets worry about that when we get there!
The key rubber is the 2 v 2 singles. Djokovic of course will be a massive favourite in his match but we will be big favourites in the doubles. Hopefully Jack will be too good for their second singles player.

Andy Murray is out of next weeks Davis Cup finals in Malaga. He suffered a minor shoulder injury in practice earlier this week and wont be fit enough in time for Thursdays quarter-final against Serbia. Now focusing on rehab ahead of next season.

That's a shame. He's obviously determined to soldier on next season, though.

One Times reader's comment:
Pointless tournament now. Has no meaning. Ruined by greed. He has done the the right thing. I mean this tournament does not even have a UK tv contract anymore. Davis Cup is home and away knockout. Go back to the old 16 team straight knockout format. Much better. The new format has not improved it and no more top players have played either.
