Week 47 - Davis Cup Final 8 - Málaga, Spain (indoor hard)

Finland are 4-1 up in the first set..

Finland were expecting a number of buses/coaches filled with ex pats from the locality, all very enthusiastic about the touro.

I'll be there too with a friend, so that makes at least 4!
Flying in tomorrow morning, and really looking forward to sun/no rain. Sort of glad it's a bit drawn out - near the sea, shops, tapas and nice old city smile

Apparently the tie is sold out with 2500 GB fans (according to LTA). So should be a great atmosphere.

Harri and the Finns take the first set. I see Harri as pseudo British squad member, so would be good to see them win.

Well done Finland on reaching the semis. Play Czechia or Australia in semis.

I wonder if Ruusuvuori remains injured whether they will just play him as an injured sacrifice at some point - possibly just retiring after a game if he really cant play. If it was against Serbia or if FAA had played today they would have been forced to IMO. Another failing of the format that this a thing that can happen.

Funny , I considered the same point if Cam was injured, would we do as you say against Djoko to ensure Jack plays the second string singles. Otherwise we would have Liam opening and Jack against Djoko. I know what I would do, and it would be fair enough, but whether Leon would do it?

Absolutely he would.. Well done Finland! Tremendous resolve they have shown, again. As far as GB are concerned, that's a nation with serious talent disposed of, not to mention Pospisil in dubs who is a nightmare to play. Anyway Thursday is our Trafalgar, staying with the Spanish theme of course.

Have to say, much as i Dislike the format, love the tennis and love the Davis Cup.

today is Czech Rep v Australia. Much as I wanted Harri and Finland to win, AdM and Austrails will get my support today.

Approx 1000 fans flew from Finland and expats perhaps another thousand the article cites. Three quarters full the 9200stadium. Heggerty I think trying to suggest this is what a successful format looks like and the tourno could never be played anywhere like Oz. It seems DC is now completely reliant on expat communities in southern Spain for ever perfect, thanks.
