Ments how nobody on here is discussing Djokovic showing himself up as the berk he is tonight, despite it being a rare non-Wimbledon occasion where tennis makes the national headlines.

what did he do? Didnt see this ? Something about British fans drowning him out with drums when he was interviewed, surely that was on our silly fans? Or did Djoko do something?

immediately after winning 1st set v Cam, Novak was smiling at the British fans and blew a couple of kisses in their direction, so I suspect this may be the reason for drumming over the interview..

Personally, that behaviour was poor ( from the British fans and Novak)- at the end of the day we had one chance and that was Jack's match which he lost to a similarly ranked player. Novak won fair and square. I don't like the man, but there is no disputing his tennis. If he is provoked you know he will react and get more headlines, that's why he does it. I wonder if that was a misjudgement and Cam should have played first? Maybe they would have had a better chance of keeping the rubber alive.

Cam couldn't have played first. As British No. 1 he has to play the top singles.

If crap neutral venues have to stay then let it just be for the final 4 and somehow arrange the other two DC calendar slots such that ALL nations get a home and away tie each year.

We may be out, but the DC continues, Australia playing Finland in a surprise semi for the Scandinavian team.

Popyrin playing Virtanen, 7-6 first set

de Minaur plays Ruusuvuori in the second singles match.

I read that the Montenegro politician is a long way from happy:

"Filipovic, who has served in a number of positions in Montenegro's national parliament, took aim at Djokovic and Davis Cup organisers on social media after the match. He was unhappy that Serbia's players went onto the court with the song 'Veseli se srpski rode', which he claimed is a 'nationalist song that calls for the Serbian annexation of Montenegro and Kosovo'.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Filipovic wrote: "Kosovo and Montenegro! Outrageous! Djokovic continues to promote his Russo-Serbian nationalist agenda! @DavisCup you should be ashamed of yourselves!""

All 5 ties the number one singles wins and the team wins. I know theres more to it, but the teams with strong number ones have the advantage. Talking of which - Djoko up again tomorrow

I mean, just because no Brits are left, or the player mentioned you personally dislike , doesnt make it irrelevant. We are part of the Davis Cup, its the World team championship, whatever its flaws; the world number one and possibly best player ever is playing, and his team beat us in the last round. Id say that makes it relevant , in answer to the so what comment

It was rather an abrupt answer. If you don't like it or aren't interested, don't reply. Let the rest of us chat amongst ourselves (which is something that the women's side of the forum does well).

Well Im really enjoying it anyway and liking Malaga and the weather. The stadium is pretty much full so a nice vibrant atmosphere with lots of happy people generally. Food and beer good and inexpensive if youre a Brit.
Enjoying seeing players that I perhaps wouldnt normally opt to see, although a real shame there hasnt been much doubles to watch - I think a lot of people were disappointed re this & would have liked dubs even though it would have been a dead rubber.
Really looking forward to Italy v Serbia, especially to seeing Sinner play again.
