Week 2 - ITF M25 - Loughborough, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Oh dear 3 retirements / withdrawals by our men this morning. Is there maybe a bug going round at Loughborough? Surely they can't all be injured?

It's the least worst I suppose, so hopefully.....

What a way for Kedders to get the break in the 2nd set. Facing a smash he spooned a lob off the frame which dropped perfectly in the corner. A set down, but a break up.

4-6 *4-2

By a country mile, that third set was the best set of tennis I have seen Kyle play in his various attempts at a comeback. Let's hope the momentum keeps rolling.

Great to see Kyle string consecutive wins together at last!

Hopefully he can smoke out his next opponent too wink

Do hope Ali G is OK....

Another walkover:

L16:  (8) Anton Matusevich WR 430 "defeated" (SE) Jacob Fearnley WR 646 by a walkover

Shame.  I was looking forward to seeing how that match panned out.  I do hope Jake's not seriously injured.

It will be the curse of the top 500.

Someone please notify Jake, Kyle and Harry that this has been achieved and the jinx is over....

I do wonder if Jacob is prioritising the Challenger in Indian Wells next week. So might be a travel thing. Guess well find out if he withdraws from that or not in the next 24 hours.

Seems like that was just wishful thinking! He has withdrawn.

Jake had a shoulder injury which affected his serve. This was towards the end of last season and I wonder if this has recurred after winning the Swiss tournament last week.

Jake dropped out

Ali G dropped out

George L retired in the 1st set

As I think somebody else suggested, quite possible that there is a bug going around, rather than injuries.

Should be OK.  Kyle's form has been a bit 'patch'y so defeating this opponent might suit him.
