2024 ITF Wheelchair Tour

From what I can tell at a brief glance, Oda will drop just under 200 points and Alfie gain just under 200 points today. The gap between them is over 400 though, so Oda will retain top spot, but it will be close.

After this week, the next big event at Super Series level is the Japan Open in April; that is followed by a Series 1 event, the Para Trophy, in Germany and then in May, the World Team Cup and the Series 1 Italian Open (although series 1, it offers $70k prize money which is higher than any super series event so far this season) . And then into French Open, Riviera Open in Nice and Wimbledon and the British Open.

Lots of big events and something meaty each month.

Next super series event is Japan Open, where Oda defends the title. Alfie didnt play last season. If Alfie plays it and does well (final) or Oda doesnt retain the title, Alfie could get top spot back. Not sure if Alfie will travel to Japan though, as the season generally moves onto the European clay events.

It kind of feels that this year is all about the Paralympics. Alfie has three silver medals and will be desperate to finally win gold. It's clear that he and Oda are currently the best two players (but play their best at different times) and Alfie and Gordon have dominated doubles for years.

I agree, its the big one. Be interesting to see if , for Alfie, the doubles would be his main aim - with his great mate, Gordon, and hes often said he sees doubles as effectively the blue riband when it comes to showcasing wheelchair.

either way, dont expect he will be in Tokyo and will instead focus on the clay court events for the next few months .

On clay, the Italian, French Open and Riviera Open will be the big ones. Wimbledon sits a little awkwardly and British Open may get a weaker entry than normal.

Good for him - Alfie is probably making some good money now; I read somewhere he made $500k last year all told, although I dont know where I got it from or if I just imagined it!

GB mens, womens and boys teams ended winners, 4th and winners respectively in 2023 World Team Cup. The quad team failed to qualify in 2023 and hence are back in the qualifiers this season; 1 of the 6 quad teams will progress from the Europe qualifier.

Team GB Quad World Cup team have won their opening qualifying match against Sweden, 2-0 with doubles still to come:

Greg Slade won 0 and 3 and then Andy Lapthorne won 0 and 0.

We play France in the final round robin match and then onto knockout against the other groups winners. From the France v Sweden scores (they won 2-1), GB should be able to beat France tomorrow and move forward as group winner.

And Britain's Quad team won the doubles also. Favourites to beat France tomorrow, also.

The GB Quad team beat France 2-0 today (Andy Lapthorne won 0 and 0; Greg Slade won for the loss of 4 games).

Into the semis - Germany and Turkey still playing and I think we play the loser of that tie (Germany 1-0 ahead).

And it is Turkey which plays GB tomorrow; Germany take on France. The two winning teams play the qualifying final on Sunday for the big event in May.
