Considering his injuries and previous struggles with the heat, that's a significant win for Jack. Let's just hope he can recover in time for round 2.
The ITV London lunchtime news, after reporting the result, showed pictures of him rushing to the side of the court & being sick! My hope is that that was a reaction to a combination of his coming through his first five-set match (which lasted for three hours & 20 minutes) & the heat & nothing more serious.
Such consideration by ITV to screen something like that at lunchtime......

As it was shortly before 14.00 & only a few seconds were shown, I don't see the problem.

Quote from Jack in today's Metro:
"It was a tough loss, but more importantly, I want to pass on my condolences to Mike Dickson's family and friends. He was always supportive of my career." Draper on Mike Dickson, the Daily Mail's long-serving tennis correspondent, who died at the age of 59 while in Melbourne covering the Australian Open and whose final piece was on the player's first round match.
I know there's a dedicated Mike Dickson thread in the Chat forum, but it seemed more appropriate to post the quote in connection with Jack's match. As has been said before, he seems a really lovely, thoughful lad.
35 year-old Mannarino wins his third five-setter on the trot
And when asked about recovery, he says he relies on Tequilla !
And he's being deadly serious - he says it helps him relax and clears the mind and it's been a major part of his progress and success in the last couple of years
Well, he clearly doesn't have a clothing sponsor - but maybe a Tequila sponsor is on the cards
Despite lots of long and tight matches, we still have 19 of the 24 players left being seeds, 13 of the top 16 left; all players in top half are seeds and only 1 of those 8 is outside the top 16 seeds, and hes 20th.
Not seen such a heavy seeded presence in a long time and maybe since we started having 32 seeds in majors?
Amazing performance from Cam. So glad that backhand DTL in the 2nd set breaker didn't come back to haunt him. Did so well to regroup after losing that set.
